Voice over IP technology has revolutionised telephony. The open source Asterisk system can provide an affordable, flexible alternative to dedicated high-end PBX systems.

If you dont need a PBX onsite, or have a limited number of traditional PSTN lines, VoIP technology can also be used to provide a Centrex-style service with many extensions over your existing broadband internet connection.

Just plug in your pre-configured VoIP telephones (which look and feel exactly like their Analouge PBX System Phone counterparts) and you've got a complete phone system with the ability to make/recieve many calls at once, transfer calls between extensions, music on hold, and even complex IVR services.
